IEEE StudPro Profile Phase II: Turning Knowledge into Opportunity
Colombo, Sri Lanka Many Sri Lankan undergraduates and fresh graduates face challenges when preparing for their first job interview. Limited opportunities to experience real interview environments can affect their confidence and make it difficult to understand industry expectations. To address this gap, IEEE StudPro introduced the Profile initiative, a programme designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry by equipping students and fresh graduates with the technical and professional skills required to navigate the recruitment process with greater confidence. The initiative provided participants with opportunities to gain practical interview experience, receive professional feedback, strengthen their CVs, and better understand what employers look for during the hiring process. Conducted across two phases under StudPro 8.0 and StudPro 9.0, the initiative also incorporated an industry visit, creating a broader platform for participants to connect their academic knowledge with real-world career opportunities.

Event Overview
The Profile initiative was organized under IEEE StudPro with the aim of enhancing the industry readiness of university undergraduates and fresh graduates. The programme focused on providing practical exposure to recruitment processes while helping participants identify areas for improvement in their professional profiles and communication skills.
Profile Phase 01 was conducted under StudPro 8.0 on 17th January 2026 at TRACE Expert City, commencing from 9:00 AM onwards. The first phase introduced participants to the importance of preparing effectively for professional opportunities and gaining exposure to the industry environment.
The initiative continued with Profile Phase 02 under StudPro 9.0, successfully conducted on 6th March 2026 at the Royal MAS Arena from 9:00 AM onwards. The second phase expanded the experience by bringing together university students and representatives from leading technology companies in Sri Lanka.
With more than 200 university students and over 20 industry representatives participating, the event created an engaging environment for students to interact with professionals and gain practical insights into the recruitment process.

The practical nature of the sessions allowed participants to identify areas for improvement while gaining greater familiarity with the expectations of a professional interview environment.
CV Review & Professional Feedback
The programme also featured dedicated CV review sessions, giving participants the opportunity to have their resumes assessed by experienced professionals.
Through constructive feedback and individual guidance, students were able to identify areas that could be improved within their CVs and better understand how their academic experiences, technical skills, projects, and achievements could be presented to potential employers.
Industry Interaction & Exposure
Profile Phase 02 brought together more than 20 representatives from leading technology companies in Sri Lanka, creating valuable opportunities for students to interact directly with industry professionals.
These interactions allowed participants to gain insights into employer expectations and develop a better understanding of the skills and qualities sought within the technology industry. The event also encouraged students to build professional connections and explore potential career pathways.
